Karen Williams

Karen Williams decorates her slipware vessels with calligraphic delicacy, depicting birds among trees and other natural habitats around her home on the Pembrokeshire coast. This style of making sgraffito designs through a slip base on earthenware pots arose from her studies of Japanese calligraphy whilst working in Japan.  Hand building gives her scope to create very individual shapes and rims, making each piece unique.
